 此前，無論是6801還是6956，只要你使用Blue Badge將隱藏功能全部打開，這幾個版本看起來和此前的M3版沒什么兩樣。

但當Windows 7 Beta發(fā)布后，一切都不同了，這個版本功能特性完整，穩(wěn)定性和兼容性強。從M3發(fā)布時，我就一直在使用Windows 7，而裝上Windows 7 Beta后，我得說：“Windows 7不是Vista。”

安裝Windows 7 Beta

比起Vista來，整個安裝過程更簡單，更流暢。這本身就是自XP依賴的一大改進。

比如，在Vista中，在開始安裝前，你需要經(jīng)過8個步驟，而在Windows 7中，只有5步。不過，在Vista中，進入桌面前用戶需要進行6步輸入和設置，還有令人厭煩的性能測試。在Windows 7中，這一數(shù)字增加到了7。

通過性能上的一些改進，Windows 7 Beta的安裝比Vista要快得多，尤其是在虛擬機上安裝時差距更顯著。如果是物理機器安裝的話，這一過程大概只需20分鐘左右。

使用Windows 7 Beta

桌面增強

跟PDC上演示的版本相比，微軟在Windows 7 Beta中進行了不少桌面改進，包括有爭議的新任務欄。有關這個爭議，參考之前的文章：簡潔性VS易用性 Windows 7的疑惑

此外，有關快捷方式，也有一些問題。在Windows 7 Beta中，如果你覺得某個程序比較重要，你可以讓它常駐任務欄，但它不會再在"最近打開的程序列表"中出現(xiàn)了。不過這也就是Windows 7最大的缺點了。

Aero Peek，這個功能我們在前面已經(jīng)介紹過了，這里就不多說了。Windows 7 Beta中就包含了全功能了Aero Peek，這個功能相當實用，尤其是如果你經(jīng)常使用Windows 7 桌面小工具（Vista中邊欄的改進版本）的話。

開始菜單中的Jump Lists也是一項非常實用的功能。當鼠標移過某個程序時，右邊就會出現(xiàn)該程序的擴展菜單。比如，當鼠標移過Word時，右邊就會顯示最近用Word打開的文檔；當移過IE時，右邊就會顯示最近瀏覽過的網(wǎng)頁。

另外，開始按鈕的用戶界面上也有些改變，比如關機按鈕現(xiàn)在可以自定義了。

行為中心（新的安全中心）

至于行為中心（新的安全中心）也有了新的圖標。

個性化菜單中提供了幾款預置主題，用戶還可以自行搭配主題，壁紙，聲音，屏保等。

資源管理器

而資源管理器也有了一些改變。“下載”不再是Windows 7庫中的一個分支了，而是單獨為其列出了一個物理文件夾（庫是虛擬文件夾）。這更加說得通了。UI上的變化也少，新的界面很討人喜歡。

網(wǎng)絡與共享中心并沒有多少變化

內(nèi)建程序

至于內(nèi)置的一些程序，比如Windows Mail, Messenger, Movie Maker和Photo Gallery都已經(jīng)不再集成在Windows 7中了，Windows日歷和聯(lián)系人也都消失了。與前任相比，Windows Media Player上的改進也不小。

媒體中心在M3進行了大幅升級，但Beta版的改進不多。另外諸如寫字板、畫筆等程序也沒有變化。

IE瀏覽器在Beta版中進行了不小的升級，包含了即將發(fā)布的IE8 RC中許多改進兼容性的功能，網(wǎng)頁顯示不正常的現(xiàn)象大大減少。

硬件管理

新的硬件管理更加讓人滿意，所有設備一目了然，很有可能會取代設備管理器。

總的來說，Windows 7是值得推薦的。

Installing the Windows 7 Beta

First up on the list of things that hasn't changed in the Windows 7 Beta is the interactive Setup routine, which you typically launch by booting your PC with the Windows 7 Beta DVD. (Separate x86 and x64 versions are available but are identical from a usage standpoint.) In keeping with the design mantra of Windows 7, Setup is simpler and more streamlined than that of Windows Vista, which was itself a huge improvement over the Windows XP Setup rigmarole.

For example, to clean install (not upgrade) Windows Vista, you had to step through 8 screens worth of information before the OS began installing. With Windows 7, this number has been cut to 5. And in Vista, the post-Setup configuration phase required six screens of input, followed by an annoyingly lengthy performance test: In Windows 7, this number actually increases to 7 because of an optional homegroup setup screen. (In both Vista and Windows 7, you will face one additional post-Setup screen if you must connect to a wireless network.)
